Challenges

MBC, a leading media and broadcasting company, faced the need to modernize their infrastructure while ensuring seamless connectivity across their global network. The key challenges included:

  1. Reinstallation of Existing Aspera Environment: MBC’s on-premises Aspera environment required reinstallation and migration to a cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption during the transition.

  2. Migration of Licenses: The company needed to migrate their Aspera licenses from the on-premises environment to virtual machines (VMs) on a cloud environment without losing access to the functionalities tied to these licenses.

  3. Maintaining Branch Connectivity: MBC’s regional branches needed to retain the same connectivity and configuration settings during the migration to ensure uninterrupted service across all locations.

  4. User Authentication SLA Adjustment: MBC required a revised method for user authentication with a new Service Level Agreement (SLA) to meet their growing security and performance demands.

  5. Bidirectional File Transfers: Ensuring bidirectional file transfer capability across all regional branches, with thorough testing to validate the robustness and efficiency of the solution, was crucial.

solution brief

IBM Aspera’s comprehensive cloud migration strategy helped MBC overcome these challenges:

  1. Reinstallation of Aspera Environment on Cloud VMs: IBM Aspera’s technical team expertly reinstalled the entire Aspera environment on cloud-based virtual machines (VMs), ensuring that the cloud infrastructure was configured to mirror the previous on-premises setup.

  2. License Migration: Through a careful migration process, all existing Aspera licenses were moved from MBC’s on-premises infrastructure to the cloud VMs. This migration ensured that MBC’s operations continued without disruption, and the licenses were validated in the new cloud environment.

  3. Seamless Branch Connectivity: IBM Aspera worked with MBC to maintain the same configuration for all regional branches during the migration process, ensuring consistent performance and connectivity across the company’s global network.

  4. Updated User Authentication SLA: The user authentication process was updated with a new SLA to meet security and performance needs. Aspera implemented an enhanced authentication method to provide MBC with the flexibility and control required for secure, scalable operations.

  5. Bidirectional File Transfers & Testing: IBM Aspera implemented all required Aspera solutions across the new cloud VMs, testing the connectivity and ensuring smooth bidirectional file transfers. Comprehensive testing confirmed that file transfers between all regional branches were fast, secure, and reliable.
